Mice are a huge concern when it comes to owning a camper. They will chew everything from bedding to wiring, and make a mess everywhere. One thing I always see as a remedy to mice is Irish Spring soap. But does it work?
In my experience that answer is no.
Originally I thought Irish Spring soap did work. The first year we had our camper will closed it up and added a few bars of Irish Spring soap. The camper was parked in the woods, so I wasn’t too hopeful that it would have any rodent problems. To my surprise when opening the pop up the following year there was nothing damaged. I though the soap did the impossible.
A year later I had to move the storage location for the camper. When packing up the camper, in went a few bars of the soap. This year we were not so lucky. When we open it up the following spring there were still mice living in it. They chewed holes in the canvas and bed cushions. It was a mess. Some of the soap looked like they tried to eat it.
In my opinion I am going to say that the soap did not work. I think the first step to keep rodents out is finding a good place to park it.
Good luck.
