Unfortunately, we’ve had plenty of rainy days and nights. We needed a backup plan for cooking when our campfires got rained out.
The Stove
This stove was purchased because with the long rain spell in Pennsylvania, finding dry wood was impossible. It rained at some point during the day every single day. When it wasn’t raining we wanted to be outside of our pop up, especially for cooking.
When we were looking at camping stoves this was one option next to the second option ,the obvious, the propane stove/grill. We weren’t looking to spend a fortune, so we thought this was the one for us. We were right— this stove is affordable, light-weight, and easy to store.
Cost To Use
One of the advantages of this stove is the price. The stove itself cost around $20 on Amazon. That cost is cheaper then any propane stove I found. One 8.8 oz. can of butane is 2.97 at Walmart. One can will burn up to 7,650 BTUs for up to 1.25 hours.
Easy Of Use
This is an easy stove to use. To set it up, take it out of its case. Open the door when the car of butane goes. Put the can in. It only fits in one way. There is a notch that needs to face up. Once the can is in place push down on the lock lever and that’s it. The stove is ready to use. Turn the temperature knob all that way up to ignite. Set your temperature, cook, and enjoy.
Final Thoughts
This stove was a great investment to add to our camping gear. While it’s always great to cook over a open fire while camping, sometimes you just can’t, and this fills the void. This stove works great and heats my cast iron pan quickly.
This works for us, but I could see there being a problem with a much larger family. If there is need for cooking for more than three people, then may not work for you since it only has a single burner. But over all this stove is an affordable buy. Cheap to purchase, and easy to use.
